Changes to the WES youth hard hat policy
All youth riders must now wear protective headgear at all times when riding or working a horse in hand at any WES event, including clinics and shows.

Prompted by feedback from members, our Welfare and Health and Safety Officer and our Youth Officer reviewed our Youth Hard Hat Policy.
Council supported their proposal to change the rule. It is now mandatory for all youth riders to wear protective headgear at all times when riding a horse or working a horse in hand at a WES event. This includes clinics, and shows for the whole time on the showground, and any private facilities WES hires.
The revised rule (section 5.1) is in the updated rule book, published in the policy hub.
The WES Protective Headgear waiver has also been updated to match, and is in the event manager resources.
