Where you fit, and how you move up

Every class at a WES show is in a category. Your points decide which you can enter, counted on 1 January each year. Every placing moves you on.

  1. Start as a Novice Rider

Novice Rider classes are for members with fewer than 48 novice rider points on 1 January, holding a WES amateur card. Walk / Jog classes are open to novices too.

  2. Move up to Amateur

Once you have 48 novice rider points on 1 January, you move on from Novice Rider. Amateur classes are for every rider with a WES amateur card.

  3. Take on Open

Open classes are open to all competitors. Enter them whenever you are ready to test yourself against the best.

  4. Your horse moves up too

A horse rides Novice Horse until it has 48 novice horse points or 36 intermediate horse points on 1 January, then Intermediate Horse until it has 48 intermediate horse points, then Open.

  5. Youth riders

Riders under 19 have their own categories by age. The class categories page has each one.
