The Trail Awards are now even better

We're thrilled to launch the new and improved WES Trail Awards, with immediate effect.

Whether you are just starting your western riding adventure or already logging serious hours on the trail, there has never been a better time to get involved.

More awards, same price

We've added more milestones and more rewards, and kept the one-off £40 sign-up fee the same. You just need to stay a WES member for the length of your Trail Awards journey.

What you receive:

  • On sign-up: a hi-vis tabard (new)
  • 50 hours: a certificate and a first aid kit
  • 100 hours: an SOS saddle tag
  • 250 hours: a special rosette and a water bottle
  • 350 hours: a softshell jacket
  • 500 hours: an inscribed silver belt buckle by Montana Silversmiths
If you are already taking part, you will receive the new hi-vis tabard too, wherever you are on your journey.

New: the 1,000 hour challenge

Already reached 500 hours? You can now enter the 1,000 Hours Challenge for just £25.

  • Track your hours each year.
  • Stay a WES member.
  • Reach 1,000 hours and earn a personalised WES-branded Clique Idaho jacket, with your name (or your horse's) and "1,000 hours" on it.

Any tack welcome

No western saddle? No problem. You can now log hours in any tack, including stock saddles and English tack. It is ideal if you are starting out in western riding or moving across from another style.

New in-hand option

Got a young horse, a golden oldie, or one in rehab? You can now complete up to 250 hours in hand, including long-lining. Trail time matters, however it is done.

Safety first

We recommend:

  • a helmet while riding
  • well-fitted tack
  • gloves, a hat and sturdy boots for in-hand work
  • hi-vis for you and your horse
  • a mobile phone and a first aid kit on every outing
