Hi, I’m Rob Painter Area 9 Rep. I have been involved in Western Equitation for almost 30 years. Initially supporting my wife Sue ( and other founders) to set up the UK Paint Horse Society, whose Charter was granted by the APHA in USA. And from there worked with WES to help with brining multi carded Judges over from USA for the Nationals as part of a deal with the American Paint Horse Association. Somewhere along the way I took over as the Announcer at the WES National show and then have announced at most of the UK western venues and shows.
Having stepped back from the Paint Horse Society a few years ago and finding I had some time on my hands I applied to be Chair of WES in 2023 and was succesful ! I really enjoyed the role however after 3 years in the hot seat I decided to step down in March 2026, but wanted to still find away of helping.
I was encouraged by the new and current Chair Dan Gwalter, to take on the vacant Area 9 Rep role. I started as a County rep but decided the rest of the Area deserved events too. So here I am and we are having fun and getting people active again. I am delighted that in 2026 we have had a number of clinics and membership is growing again.
