ℹ️ Biography
Many moons ago, I was one of those little girls who loved horses but circumstances didn't allow for one of my own. We lived in Devon back then and every Sunday as a young teenager, I would walk miles to the nearest riding stables to do whatever chores it took to “earn” a free ride.
Another favourite pastime was watching the old Western films on the TV and I had the dream of one day spending my life working on a ranch in America. Being a ranch hand, riding out on the trail, and sitting around campfires in the evenings sounded like heaven to me as a youngster.
However, life moved on and with growing up came changing priorities and the dream of horses got pushed further down the priority list. Although my childhood dream of owning the perfect pony was put on the back burner, the flame was never extinguished entirely. Forty years later, I found my “heart” horse, that special one … the one you know you just can't live without … What can I say … patience is definitely a virtue!
Sierra Sundance (aka Sunny) is an AQHA x NF who is definitely older than me in human years but we connected from the off. We have fun together be it on the ground or in the saddle and that to me, is what it's all about.
These days, ten years on, we are both a little arthritic but have joined the WES Trail Award Scheme and in the near future I would love for us to attempt a little Western Dressage whilst we are still able.
I do love seeing people having fun with their horses, no matter what discipline or style … but I very definitely have a soft spot for all things Western which funnily enough is why I joined WES just over two years ago.
Fast forward to the present day - you will find me living in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, about to embark on a new and exciting journey with the WES team. I have the huge privilege of being appointed as Area 6 Rep and I am very much looking forward to helping as many members as possible reach their own dreams, however big or small, however long it takes. Let us all keep learning together and moving ever closer to those dreams.
