About this sponsor
The only UKCC Level 4 Western Coach in the UK - WES Council member, Judge, and Trail Award sponsor
Pauline Norton is one of the most qualified and experienced equestrian coaches in the UK - and a central figure in the WES community. She is the only UKCC Level 4 Western Coach in the country, a British Horse Society Accredited Professional Coach, a WES Level 2 Professional, a WES Judge, and WES Welfare and H&S Officer. Based in East Peckham, Kent, Pauline brings a career spanning dressage, reining, and western riding to every coaching session she delivers.
WES is grateful to Pauline for personally sponsoring the 50 hours Trail Award milestone - funding the certificate and first aid kit that every participant receives when they hit their first major target on the trail. It is the kind of quiet, generous contribution that reflects exactly who Pauline is within this organisation.
A remarkable equestrian career
Pauline's journey began in dressage, training with Arthur Kottas and Charles de Kunffy and competing to Medium level on her Dutch Warmblood, Iredo. After health challenges forced a step back, she discovered western riding in 2000 - and the rest, as they say, is history.
Never doing anything by halves, Pauline took up reining and became British Reining Open Hi-Point Champion in two divisions in her first year of competition - beating experienced long-term western riders and qualifying for the European Championships in Sweden. The journey from dressage to reining champion in a single season remains one of the most remarkable stories in UK western riding.
She is also a List 3 British Dressage Judge - making her genuinely multi-disciplinary in a way that very few coaches are.
