Prompted by member feedback, our Welfare & Health and Safety Officer and our Youth Officer reviewed our Youth Hard Hat Policy. Council supported their proposal to change our rule to make it mandatory for all Youth riders to wear protective headgear at all times when riding a horse or working a horse in hand at a WES event; this includes clinics and shows for the entire duration on the show ground, or any private facilities being hired by the WES. The revised rule (section 5.1) has been updated, and the updated rule book is now published on the WES website here. The WES Protective Headgear waiver has also been updated to reflect the change and can be found here.
