A new chapter for WES
WES Secretary Role – Now Open for Applications
The position of WES Secretary is now open to applications from any member of the Western Equestrian Society.
This is a volunteer role and one of the most pivotal positions in how WES operates. The Secretary coordinates Council and Extended Council meetings, maintains our governance records and Council Hub, manages communications to members and leadership, and works at the centre of the organisation's operational structure.
The opportunity
Western riding and lifestyle is experiencing genuine growth momentum in the UK right now. WES is the fastest-growing western equestrian society in the country, and we're positioned to accelerate that growth significantly over the next 12 months. The Secretary plays a key role in enabling that growth.
This role offers the opportunity to be part of building something that's genuinely moving forward — to influence how WES communicates, how we operate, and how we scale as an organisation.
What you'd be doing
- Setting agendas and coordinating our Council meetings (monthly) and Extended Council sessions (quarterly)
- Maintaining our governance records in the Council Hub so every decision and action is clearly documented
- Managing communications to members and leadership, shaping how WES sounds as we grow
- Keeping the administrative and operational side running smoothly
- Playing a key role in scaling an organisation with real momentum
Who we're looking for
You should be comfortable with technology and systems — we work with Notion, email, spreadsheets, and scheduling platforms. You don't need to be expert in any of these; we provide full training and support.
What matters is energy, genuine passion for western riding and WES, and a desire to be part of building something that's growing. Someone who sees this as a real opportunity, not just a job to do.
How to apply
If this sounds like you, email dan@wes-uk.com with a brief note about who you are and why you're interested in the role.
Applications close: 31 March 2026
We'll appoint through Council decision, and the role will then be formally elected at next year's AGM.
