📕 Biography
Began western riding in early 2000's with an amazing AQHA reining horse Starlights Smoke (aka Dorito) who enabled me to win BR Intermediate and Limited Open Champion in my first year of competition. The following year we qualified for the European Championship but sadly my crumbling spine meant I handed the ride over to Jeanine March who finished a very creditable 4th.
With competitive riding becoming more physically difficult, I turned my attention to expanding my coaching skills and was one of the main developers of the the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate for western riding. I continue in the role of Coach Development Officer for Western Riding at the British Equestion Federation and run workshops and assessment days for those who wish to take this qualification.
I am the only Level 4 UKCC Western coach in the country and began a Professional Doctorate with the University of Gloucestershire, focusing on the needs of participation riders - an area which is often overlooked in favour of enhancing performance and competition success.
I remain passionate about the benefits to both horse and rider or effective coaching and continue to hone my own skills and help develop the skills of other coaches.
