About this sponsor

Capable horses. Confident riders. Progress that actually moves you forward.

Applied Horsemanship was built around a single, demanding idea: that good horsemanship should hold up anywhere. In the arena, on the trail, in competition - with a young horse, a difficult horse, or one competing at the highest level. Not just in ideal conditions, but under the real pressure that riding and training inevitably brings.

WES is proud to have Applied Horsemanship as a sponsor - a business that shares our belief that the relationship between horse and rider is worth getting right.

The Applied Horsemanship story

The founder trained internationally under leading figures in horsemanship, dressage, and western performance - learning across disciplines and systems over more than 15 years, working with horses across the US, the UK, and beyond. That breadth of experience is the foundation the method is built on.

The same pattern kept showing up regardless of discipline: riders who were committed, but lacked clarity. Advice that sounded right but fell apart under pressure. Approaches that asked riders to lower their goals instead of helping them achieve them. Applied Horsemanship was built to solve exactly that.

The approach

The Applied Horsemanship method starts with the horse's mind before the body. It gives riders practical tools they can actually apply - not just in a lesson, but when they are riding alone, when things get difficult, and when the stakes are real.

The horse's mental and emotional state is treated as inseparable from physical training - because it is. A horse that is genuinely calm, genuinely willing, and genuinely capable is not an accident. It is the product of a systematic, thoughtful approach applied consistently over time.

Online courses and in-person training

Applied Horsemanship offers both in-person training at Rignall Farm Barns, Towcester, Northamptonshire, and a growing library of online courses - making high-quality horsemanship education accessible wherever you are and whatever your starting point.

Whether you are working through structured learning at your own pace, or looking for direct coaching at the yard, the programme is built around real progress rather than theory alone.
